Course outline
TNVR (Therapeutic Non-Violent Resistance) courses for schools are designed to provide educators, administrators, and school staff with the knowledge and skills to implement nonviolent strategies in managing challenging behaviours and conflicts within the school environment.

These courses aim to promote a safe and inclusive school culture, improve relationships between students and staff, and reduce the use of punitive disciplinary measures.

Here's a brief overview of TNVR courses for schools:

1. Understanding the principles of TNVR:
Participants will learn about the core principles and concepts of TNVR, which include non-violent, de-escalation, empathy, and relationship-building. They will gain an understanding of how these principles can be applied in the school context to address challenging behaviours and conflicts.

2. Building positive relationships:
TNVR courses emphasise the importance of building positive relationships between students and staff. Participants will learn strategies for fostering trust, empathy, and connection with students, which can contribute to a more respectful and cooperative school environment.

3. De-escalation techniques:
Participants will be introduced to de-escalation techniques that can help defuse tense situations and prevent the escalation of conflicts. These techniques may include active listening, validation, and using non-confrontational language to promote open communication and understanding.

4. Restorative practices:
TNVR courses often incorporate restorative practices, which focus on repairing harm and restoring relationships in the aftermath of conflicts. Participants will learn how to facilitate restorative circles, conferences, or other restorative processes to address the impact of harmful behaviours and promote accountability and reconciliation.

5. Collaborative problem-solving:
TNVR encourages a collaborative approach to problem-solving. Participants will learn strategies for involving students in the process of finding solutions to conflicts and challenging behaviours, empowering them to take ownership of their actions and contribute to a positive school climate.

6. Implementation and ongoing support:
TNVR courses provide practical guidance on implementing NVR strategies within the school setting. Participants will receive support in developing action plans, adapting NVR principles to their specific school context, and addressing any challenges that may arise during implementation.

These courses aim to equip school staff members with the tools and strategies needed to create a safe, supportive, and non-violent school environment, by promoting positive relationships, empathy, and collaboration, NVR courses can contribute to improved student behaviour, increased student engagement, and a more inclusive school community.
